AI algorithm

ALTA utilizes artificial intelligence and deep learning technologies to revolutionize the pest control processes in agriculture, transitioning from the current practice of broadcast and wasteful spraying of pesticides to precise and selective spraying. We’re Enabling farmers to better understand the problems they face and provide the ideal solution. Using AI to identify unwanted pests or weeds in your field, mark and selectively spray them with outstanding accuracy.

Until today, there is no efficient method for dealing with rodents in fields of Medicago. The existing solutions for dealing with such rodents cause severe damage to crops. Moreover, their mere presence in the fields inhibits the feasibility of installing efficient and advanced irrigation systems that would enable to increase crop production. Collaboration between Dr. Yoav Motro, head of vertebrate and snail damage prevention in the division of Plant Protection and Inspection Services of the Ministry of Agriculture, Netafim and ALTA has lead to the development of a rodent control application system (Rosh 80) that is accurate, efficient and effective. The application focuses on exact points of entry and exit of the rodents, based on AI technology developed by ALTA. This method facilitates a significant reduction of 90% in the quantity of poison used, in comparison to the method currently applied. The development includes three major stages: First, using a drone to produce high resolution images of the field, then using an algorithm-powered system to analyze the images and locate the rodent burrows and finally applying the poison on the located burrows using the rodent control application system.  ALTA is an active participant in leading exhibitions and demonstrations in the agricultural industry, such as Arava, Agritech, as well as other seminars, workshops, conferences, field demonstrations and more.

A unique and unprecedented development of a system for dispersing splat type material enables flight at a speed of up to 30 km/h over the orchard rows. Successfully passing a two-year test period by the Luxembourg pesticide development and marketing company, which included – correct application of the material from the system, verifying damage to the trees and placing traps to test the effectiveness of the material. Average supply of 700 dunams per day for a single team with full and uniform coverage on each plot. The mock apple moth (FCM) pest is a quarantine pest that arrived in Israel from South Africa in recent years. The pest often damages citrus fruit crops and also partial infestations in orchards, their right is to reject the entire orchard. Luxemburg Industries Ltd. markets a unique substance, the pheromone “SPLAT”, a type of scent that the female secretes to help the male find her and thus reproduce. The pheromone is uniformly distributed over the entire plot, thus the male is unable to find the female and reproduction is prevented at the expense of the fruit. The operation between the “Luxembourg” company and the ALTA company led to an unprecedented service of applying (spreading) the splat in agricultural fields from the unique drone platform.

PROBLEM

Weeds and pests are among the most significant threats to crop production. Farmers address this challenge by indiscriminately spraying chemicals across an entire field. ECONOMIC – Farmers spend more than $40B on herbicides and pesticides each year. RESISTANCE – A global epidemic and a real threat to food production: Weeds and pests develop resistance to pesticides as a result of indiscriminant broadcast spraying. ENVIRONMENTAL- Millions of tons of pesticides are sprayed every year in vain, causing severe soil and water contamination. HEALTH – Broadcast spraying exposes all of us to severe health risks.

SOLUTION

Our AI algorithm can identify a chosen pest or unwanted weed in your field; then, the data is transmitted to an autonomous drone, which takes off to the mission, spraying or spreading exclusively in the designated areas. This is done accurately and efficiently, avoiding wasteful usage and diminishing pesticide resistance.

Planting close to the line of the trees and parallel to the rows ensures that most of the material hits the trees and reduces the fall of the drops on the floor. The use of a unique spray allows changing the size of the spread and the radius of spread, by definition in advance or at the time of emergence according to the instructions of the farmer. The high controllability of the drone allows effective work under tension cables, near tree lines or near settlements with minimal drones.
